What is UltraMIST therapy?

The UltraMIST system at Midwest Wellness and Wound Care uses acoustic sound wave therapy to accelerate wound healing. It works by using painless ultrasound energy to stimulate your body’s ability to heal and regrow tissues.

What are the benefits of UltraMIST therapy?

UltraMIST therapy offers the following benefits and more:

  • Faster wound healing
  • Less pain
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Smaller wound size
  • Less bacteria
  • New blood vessel and tissue formation
  • Increased oxygen and nutrients

For optimal convenience, the skilled experts at Midwest Wellness and Wound Care can travel to your home to administer advanced wound care services.

Which wounds can UltraMIST therapy help treat?

Examples of acute and chronic (long-lasting) wounds that UltraMIST therapy can help treat include:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous leg ulcers
  • Deep tissue pressure injuries
  • Lymphedema-related wounds
  • Wounds caused by peripheral artery disease (PAD)
  • Bedsores and other pressure ulcers
  • Venous wounds
  • Nonhealing surgical wounds

Exceptions include wounds over a pregnant uterus in women, cancerous tissues, and wounds over implanted devices.

Is UltraMIST right for me?

Your wound care specialist discusses your symptoms, reviews your medical history, and examines your wounds. You might need a swab, biopsy, blood work, X-rays, an MRI, or other imaging procedures.

Your risk of nonhealing wounds increases if you have diabetes, poor circulation, venous insufficiency, PAD, a weakened immune system, or are bedridden.

Your wound specialist determines if you’re a candidate for UltraMIST or other treatments like compression therapy, skin grafts, or debridement. Midwest Wellness and Wound Care also offers negative pressure wound therapy, a wound matrix, and other advanced wound care solutions.

What happens during UltraMIST treatment?

UltraMIST is a low-frequency ultrasound therapy that delivers sound waves to the treatment area. The treatment is painless and lasts just 3-20 minutes based on the size of your wound. UltraMIST is non-contact, meaning the handheld device used to emit ultrasound energy into your wound doesn’t touch your skin. Multiple treatment sessions can optimize your results.

Midwest Wellness and Wound Care lets you know when to schedule your next treatment. You may notice results after the first few sessions.
